These are sons of Mr. and Mrs. James Crane, of Wharf road, Mosman. Lieutenant Frederick William Crane was wounded at Gallipoli, and returned to Australia. 436 Sergeant Walter James Crane was also wounded at Gallipoli and also suffered from a gas shell ; he is now resting in England. Staff Sergeant G. Crane was recalled after he had enlisted with the 1st Battalion in order that his services should be made available for instructional purposes. Sydney Mail Wednesday 15 November, 1916. Please note. I was unable to locate a record for Sergeant G. Crane. 21362 Arthur Stafford Crane (not in photograph) is another son who enlisted later in the war in 1917.
