David (Dave) Goodyear was born at Wilson Downfall and lived in Liston, near Stanthorpe, Queensland. David Daniel Goodyear was 21 when heenlisted for military service. Dave was badly injured firstly in France when was shot firstly on 05.08.1916 and then again 18.11.1916. This gun shot wound was to the right shoulder and it caused severe damage to the brachial plexus (the brachial plexus means a network of nerves that supply the upper limbarm, forearm and hand).He wassent to England before being sent home.     Dave married Emma Lilly in Croydon, Surrey. Emma was a nurse at the hospital. They had a daughter Margaret. It is not known if Emma ever came to Australia but if she did she returned with her daughter to England. Dave never divorced her as neither remarried.
