29 male staff from Morisset Mental Hospital enlisted during the Great War. Most were male nurses, known then as 'attendants'. Of the 29, only two died; one from wounds sustained at the Battle of Lone Pine at Gallipoli and the other in France. So far in my research I have found three of the men were awarded The Military Medal for bravery. One of the men worked in England as a munitions worker. I am having difficulty with identifying one of the soldiers, who may have been a doctor. The names of the men are commemorated on an Honour Board which hangs in the recreation hall at Morisset Hospital.
