    Townsville Queensland (N.A.A. – Orginally allocated Reg.No. 303. 29/07/16 K.I.A. France (Award – Mention in Despatches Recommendation – Mention in Despatches 17/09/16 For gallantry as a leader of his platoon during the attack on Pozieres Ridge on the night of 28/29th July 1916. He led his men to the wire in front of the German Trenches and was killed in looking for an entrance through it.) 29/07/16 K.I.A. 26th Bn in an attack upon Pozieres

    Queenslander (Brisbane, Qld), Saturday 7 October 1916, page 39 PERSONAL NOTES. GYMPIE. September 28. Sergeant Julian Brookes-Ball, recently reported killed in France on July 28, served through the Gallipoli campaign. Prior to enlisting he was obtaining "colonial experience" on Lerida station.
