Played His Last Game. One of the first - if not the first - of the local footballers to give his life for his country was Private Alan Cordner of the Collingwood Football Club whose photo appears in this weeks issue, writes Mr. Gerald Brosnan. As previously mentioned he was reported missing among the first batch of Gallipoli heroes, but it is only recently that official intimation of his death has been received. Hailing originally from Warrnambool he played first with the Geelong Club, but on coming to Melbourne transferred to the Collingwood team with which he showed considerable promise. His two Cousins Dr E. R. Cordner, and Dr. H. Cordner have been in the firing line in France for upwards of 2 years. Winner, Wednesday 13 December, 1916.
