Ralph Ivo was the older brother of Arthur Fergusson, (4488, LCPL, MM) and the cousin of Albert Fergusson, (1910, CPL). Ralph served with the Australian wireless sections in Mesopotamia, (Iraq), 1917 - 1918, as a Light Horseman blacksmith, as he held this trade before enlistment. Ralph survived the war to return to Australia and take up being a smithy again, at the Manly tramworks, Sydney.
