Promulgated in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette, no 120, dated 7 August 1918Mrs F forward has been advised by the Military Authorities that her son, Sergt B E Ralph, of the 3rd Camel Corps, has been awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous bravery in the field. It is understood that Sergt Ralph took charge of one of the machine guns and covered a withdrawal during one of the battles in Palestine. He also, on another occasion, crawled out of the lines to rescue a wounded comrade named Murphy. Sergt Ralph in this instance shot a sniper who was causing considerable trouble, and after bandaging Murphy's wounds, brought him into the British lines. Northam Advertiser (WA): Reel 15; 24 August 1918
