Adam signed up to go to war knowing he was leaving his pregnant wife and two-and-a-half year-old daughter behind Not knowing if he would ever see them again, nevertheless he went. He had already lost two brothers, both of whom were at Gallipoli (one of whom died KIA 26th April 1915; and is buried Popes Hill Cemetery, Gallipoli). Adam survived the war, despite being wounded by shrapnel, returning to Australia and fathering four more children. He died in Queensland in October of 1971.
