Rosa's mother, Jeanie Elizabeth O'Kane applied for some assistance after the death of her daughter who died while serving, initially her application was refuses but if it had been her son, the application would have been approved. Jeanie wrote some amazing letters to appeal the decision and she was successful to an extent. The Repat. file is: J34, C38363 - National Archives, Brisbane Office.
